The Gargoyle Gecko (Rhacodactylus auriculatus) is a rugged, personable gecko from New Caledonia that has earned a devoted following among reptile enthusiasts. Named for the bumpy, horn-like projections on their heads, gargoyle geckos are hardy, relatively easy to care for, and come in a stunning range of color morphs. They thrive in a vertical, bioactive enclosure with live plants, cork bark hides, and a temperature range of 72–78°F — no supplemental heat required in most homes. Unlike many reptiles, they readily accept commercial crested gecko diet alongside live insects, making feeding straightforward. A great step up from a crested gecko and a species you'll enjoy for 15–20 years.
